Spine Surgery - Accra, Ghana | Heyland's Sponsored
I had been living with scoliosis for four years and tried to work through my worsening back pain with medication and physiotherapy sessions which yielded no positive results. The pain got progressively worse with shortness of breath and a tilted gait which was very unbearable.
I heard of FOCOS hospital through the media and followed up with my parents in 2015 and was advised to undergo a spine surgery to curb the deformity. The surgery bill that was given to us was hefty and impossible to generate.
I lived on with the pain and fear that I may not live longer than expected but somehow God made a way.
One fateful Tuesday morning, I received a call from a staff of FOCOS informing me to be one of the lucky patients to receive a sponsorship from the Heyland family. My family and I were astonished at the kind gesture shown us. I whispered to my mum “This must be an angel sent from above”.
Visiting FOCOS for the second time to begin the surgery process was another joy to behold. The staff of the hospital was very welcoming, tolerant and caring. With so much patience and love, they explained with clarity all the processes and procedures I needed to go through and also gave the opportunity for me to ask questions. I must commend Professor Boachie-Adjei, my life saving spine surgeon and his OR team for keeping me alive on that day. I knew I was in safe hands after reading about Prof Boachie-Adjei and the countless successful surgeries he had performed over the years.
I cannot end without mentioning the great assistance and care offered me by the following departments: Physiotherapy, Diet and Nutrition, Nursing, Out Patient Dep’t, Radiology, Administration and Pharmacy. THANK YOU TO MR HEYLAND AND THE ENTIRE FOCOS TEAM. I WISH YOU WELL IN ALL YOUR ENDEAVOURS.
