FOCOS empowers unit heads
FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital last Friday, organized a leadership empowerment workshop for the various unit heads at the hospital, to enhance their leadership skills.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Mrs. Leticia Osei-Poku together with the Executive Director of FOCOS US, Mr. Kaseem Ladipo and the various unit heads were taken through the core values of a leader, the pillars of leadership as well as organizational goals of a leader. Participants at the workshop were engaged through participatory discussions with practical case studies at the workshop. Subsequently, they were made to analyze a video from the Harvard video series on leadership, where each participant shared their takeaways from the workshop afterwards.
In total, 23 individuals participated in the workshop comprising: medical, administrative, and representatives from allied health units. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Sam Owusu Akyaw, Vice President of FOCOS and member of the Board of Directors. He served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Osteotech, Inc., a biologics company, from January 2006 to November 2010. Formerly, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors from July 2004 to January 2006.
Prior to joining Osteotech, Inc., Mr. Owusu-Akyaw served as General Manager of Medtronic Midas Rex and Vice President of Medtronic, Inc. from 2000 through June 2004, and Chief Operating Officer of Medtronic Midas Rex from 1999 to 2000. He has also served in various leadership capacities at numerous multi-million organizations in the US.
Management of FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital regularly organizes leadership workshops for managers and staff, at the hospital.
