FOCOS Hospital partners with Lakeside Marina / Happy FM for the 2017 Family Fun Run Event
Lakeside Marina and Happy FM in partnership with FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital. launched the 7th edition of the annual 6-km Family Fun Run and Walk, on Tuesday, 7th February, 2017. The event brought together families, individuals and schools to exercise, check their medical status and celebrate Ghana’s 60th Independence Day.
This year, well trained and experienced nurses from the FOCOS Orthopaedic hospital, the official Health sponsor, carried out a medical screening exercise for the participants, runners and the general public. The patrons were checked for hypertension (Blood pressure) and Body Mass Index (BMI) as well as medical counseling on how to eat well, keep fit and live a healthy lifestyle. The
“Due to the busy schedule of corporate officials in Ghana and the demand of family responsibilities, exercising becomes a challenging task,” organisers said when asked about the purpose and significance of the event. It is in this regard that Lakeside Marina and Happy FM in collaboration with FOCOS Hospital came together to provide the avenue through the Family Fun Run to help Ghanaians keep fit, check their health status and stay healthy.
Many of the patrons who visited the FOCOS medical booth were also educated on orthopaedic health to avoid accidents and future complications to their spines, joints and muscles. The event was also an avenue for the hospital to get familiar with other corporate sponsors and members of the community. The Development Manager and officer were also there to promote and publicize FOCOS Hospital as the ultimate medical center for optimum and affordable orthopaedic care in Africa.
The 7th edition of the Lakeside Marina and Happy Fm Family Fun Run saw over 400 people in attendance, with over 100 participants who took part in the 6 km run which started at 6:00 am at the Lakeside Marina Park.
Other side attractions included a free breakfast, medical screening by FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital and a special VIP breakfast for corporate sponsors. There was also a 10 km run track and games and fun fair for the children who attended with their parents.
