FOCOS Orthopedic Surgeon empowers Specialists at Nigeria Arthroplasty Conference
Dr. Joseph Ogyaadu an Orthopedic Surgeon at FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital empowered specialists at the Bi-Annual Conference and Workshop of the Arthroplasty Society of Nigeria (ASN) held at the Barca Liga Hotel in Gudu, Abuja, Nigeria, from Tuesday, 25th to Thursday, 27th of September, 2018.
The conference themed, “Prosthetic Joint Infection” witnessed Dr. Joseph Ogyaadu share his experience, technique and expertise in primary and revision surgeries both for Total Knee Replacement (TKR) and Total Hip Replacement (THR). His presentation was very insightful and addressed several questions that bothered some of the participants.
The 3-day conference saw about twenty Arthroplasty Surgeons from different hospitals converge in Abuja primarily to improve outcomes in Joint Replacements Surgeries and deliberate on issues affecting Arthroplasty in Africa. Some participants also shared their experiences on how to reduce infection rates while performing joint surgeries.
Other speakers were Dr Ogedegbe, Dr Akinola, Dr Ekwe from Cedarcrest Hospitals and Dr Ihezie, Dr Anyaehie, Prof Ekere, Prof Unche, Dr Odedapo also from other orthopedic hospitals in Nigeria. Representatives of implants and instruments manufacturing companies like Depuy Synthes and Pacific Diagnostics were also present to advertise their products.
The conference was climaxed by the ASN Congress, where a unanimous decision was taken by members to generate a registry for the society and also hold the bi-annual event annually from next year to increase participation.
