FOCOS team ends medical mission trip in Sierra Leone
A two-member team from FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital led by Founder, CEO and Surgeon-In-Chief of FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei has ended their four-day medical mission to Makeni in Sierra Leone.
This was a follow up to an earlier agreement between: FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital in Accra-Ghana, the Holy Spirit Hospital (HSH) in Makeni-Sierra Leon and the Africa Surgery Incorporated, a non-profit organization which provides health care and surgical services to needy people in Sierra Leone.
The trip which started from Thursday, September 27, 2018 to Sunday, September 30, 2018, saw the FOCOS team organize a Clinic at HSH for individuals suffering from various orthopedic and spinal conditions as well as reviewing the patients who had undergone surgery in the past at the FOCOS hospital in Ghana from 2007 to now. The FOCOS team also empowered HSH staff with protocols for their clinical operations.
In all, 112 patients from diverse age groups with various orthopedic and spinal conditions were attended to. Dr.Patrick Turay ( HSH Medical Director) and Dr.Kanu, also HSH medical officer supported the team from FOCOS. Also, FOCOS is currently helping HSH to secure radiographic equipment to improve diagnostic imaging at the hospital. Prof.Oheneba Boachie-Adjei was accompanied by the Head of clinical research at FOCOS, Mr.Henry Ofori Duah.
