Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei poses with Philantropy Award
Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Prof.Oheneba Boachie-Adjei poses with the Philantropy Award, he won at the recently held National Philanthropy Forum.
The second edition of the National Philanthropy Forum-Ghana was held in the Accra Conference center on March 23 and 24, 2017, with over 250 charitable individuals and organizations invited to participate in capacity building and to award deserving individuals and NGO’s as the climax of this year’s event.
This year, the founder and CEO of FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, Prof Emeritus Oheneba Boachie-Adjei was nominated to receive the award for the Individual Philanthropist of the Year (Special Needs). Ms. Leticia Osei-Poku, Chief Administrative Officer and the Development Manager and Officer, Nana Kwame Osei-Fordjour and Precious Bonsu respectively, attended the conference and received the award on the Professor’s behalf.
“On behalf of Dr Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, Board of Directors and the entire staff at FOCOS Hospital, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for this prestigious award and for acknowledging the work that Prof started years ago,” she said.
Ms. Osei-Poku also shared one of his favourite quotes with the captivated audience saying – “If you want to be happy for a day, go fishing. If you want to be happy for a year, inherit a fortune and work hard to get more. But if you want to be happy for a lifetime, then find somebody to serve. And that’s our mission at FOCOS; we are here to serve mankind.”
Other awardees were: MTN Ghana Foundation, Newmont Mining, Rev. Father Palmer Buckle,Nathan Kwabena Adisi (Bola Ray) and others. The conference, under the theme “Philanthropists as agents of National Development,” saw in attendance invited guests, dignitaries and participants from Ghana and other African states such as Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
