Spine Surgery - Accra, Ghana | Heyland's Sponsored
I lived with Severe back pain for almost a decade and sought medical attention in numerous facilities but to no avail, until I was finally referred to FOCOS hospital by a friend in the Eastern Region.
Visiting FOCOS Hospital for the first time in 2017 brought me so much joy and hope, after seeing the beautiful state of the art facility full of expert medical personnel and caring staff members.
The joy and hope I felt was short-lived after I was given a surgery bill which I knew My family could not afford. I was living with a single parent who just a peasant farmer and could not even afford to pay fees for me to further my education after Senior High school. We returned home and my health continued to deteriorate as I begun to experience mechanical back pain which would often radiate to the chest region causing unbearable pain and difficulty in breathing. I sensed danger and prayed to God for a miracle.
Exactly a year later, I received a call from a Patient Advocate in FOCOS requesting me to visit the facility for review and a brief discussion. Upon arrival, I was greeted with good news that a benevolent individual (Mr. Heyland) had offered to foot my surgery bill. I was once again filled with joy and hope.
The necessary pre-op test required began and I must confess that I was offered all the assistance I needed from the various departments. The nurse manager (Rebecca Essilfie) and her nursing team were very polite, caring, respectful and sensitive to my needs. My family was always treated with respect and dignity anytime they visited and have always praised FOCOS for this. The ward was a happy place to live and cafeteria services was always at its best. The O.P.D, Physiotherapy and Pharmacy Units always served us with prompt response to our needs. The entire FOCOS team ensured professionalism and maximum care throughout the period of admission which I am forever grateful for. Finally, to Professor Oheneba-Boachie Adjei the great spine surgeon who gave me a new life and to Dr. Irene Wulff, the Anesthetic I would want to say a big thank you. LONG LIVE FOCOS
I am happy with my new life and work as a shop attendant. I go about my normal duties with ease and hoping to save some money to further my education to become a nurse and help others in future.
I am now a walking testimony and will preach FOCOS everywhere I go.
