FOCOS appoints Dr. Reuben Mawuli Coffie as Chief Development Officer
The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS) has appointed Dr. Reuben Mawuli Coffie, as Chief Development Officer (CDO) to spearhead the foundation’s development strategy.
This forms part of the foundations goal to improve its fundraising efforts which will it turn help it give more support to the underserved in society. With over two decades of experience, the newly-appointed CDO has a wealth of experience in the design and execution of economic development programmes, business development, SME development, value chain and agriculture development, agribusiness financing, impact investing and social enterprise, business and organizational strategies, strategic planning and leadership development, multi-stakeholder engagement and organizational value proposition strengthening and will oversee the development of a multimillion fund .
Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Reuben said, “This is a very important and interesting development for me, having been in the traditional type of donor funded projects and focusing on impact investing, inclusive business and agribusiness, and trying to take all that knowledge to develop an endowment fund that primarily focuses on orthopedics, makes it very interesting. I am beginning to see the dynamics of giving in various aspects of development and so far; so good”.
He further commended the already-existing development team for the enthusiasm and commitment in leading development initiatives of FOCOS in Ghana.
The FOCOS CDO has worked with multinational organizations such as the Palladium Group, DAI Europe, SNV Netherlands Development Organization, Care International and Chemonics International. In addition, he has had stints in: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, The Netherlands, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Dr. Coffie holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Economics as well as a Doctorate degree in Business Administration. He is fluent in English and Russian and has a working knowledge of French.
