My name is Tigist Desalgn from Ethiopia. I graduated from a community college MSC and a governmental University College KCTE as a language teacher. I always studied hard in school and thanks to God I was always happy with my results. However, I never felt complete because of my spinal deformity. My condition prevented me from doing house chores, walking for long, and going to school regularly due to the severe pain that accompanied my twisted spine. I lived with my condition for about 14 years and that made me feel inferior among my friends.
Oh God! I really don’t know what to say, sometimes it is difficult to find the right words to express yourself when you are overwhelmed by an act of kindness.
This is the new Tigist who is free from any form of pain, sadness and self-pity due to a beautiful place with brilliant people called FOCOS. I wish I could speak to the whole world about the great things that the people at FOCOS are doing. They are the kindest people I have ever met in my life.
They gave me my life back when I was about to lose it. They gave me a new life and now I can start a happy life. I have been working with FOCOS for about 5 years now as a volunteer teacher, spreading that same love they gave to me to the children at the hospital. What I am doing now is nothing compared to what FOCOS has done for me.
