FOCOS announces Culinary Cup Fundraiser
The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS) has announced Saturday, October 20, 2018, as the official day to stage the first-ever, FOCOS “Culinary Cup” fundraiser at the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital.
Themed “cook to heal”, the Culinary Cup is an inter-organizational cooking competition that aims to raise funds to support children who require complex orthopedic procedures at the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital through fun and healthy cooking.
Overall, about 10-15 organizations are expected to participate in the maiden Culinary Cup. Participants will comprise partner organizations of the hospital as well as organizations interested in supporting a worthy cause. Each participating organization will be required to nominate three individuals, excluding professional cooks, to represent them at the competition. Participants will be given at most two hours, to prepare their assigned meals and set their table for Judges to taste and pass their verdict. Neutral judges will give their verdict based on parameters like taste, set-up and other criteria, as decided by the sponsors.
Commenting about the competition Administrative Manager at FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, Mrs. Vivian Quarshie-Kumasa said, “FOCOS believes in helping the underserved in society and we believe we can mix that up with fun, to support a worthy cause.Side attraction for the competition would include a dancing competition, an auction of paintings made by children at the FOCOS Hospital, a poetry recital by upcoming poetic gem, Edem Azumah as well as other exciting activities”.
Though some organizations have registered to participate, registration for the competition is still ongoing. FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital is a specialist non-profit hospital established to deliver quality orthopedic care to the underserved in society. The hospital treats issues related to the spine, joints as well as other musculoskeletal conditions.
