Israeli Surgeon acknowledges Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei
Dr. Josh Shroeder, a senior surgeon and spine specialist at the Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem-
Israel, has paid a glowing tribute to the CEO of FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital, Emeritus Prof
Oheneba Boachie-Adjei for his influence in performing a rare spine surgery to save a bedridden
Palestinian teen, Yusef .
“The equipment for his surgery was brought in from the United States,” said Dr. Schroeder. “We received fourboxes with rods, and screws developed by Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei”. After the surgery, Yusefis up walking, and Hadassah has recommended physical therapy to build the muscles that
deteriorated for all the time he couldn’t get out of bed.
Prof. Boachie-Adjei has invented and patented several devices used in spinal surgery like the
Halo Gravity Traction, procedure used to reduce the degree of curvature in the spines of children
with severe idiopathic or congenital Scoliosis (curvature of the spine). Prof Boachie-Adjei was
recognized for his contribution towards orthopedic healthcare delivery in the world, at the
“Dream Makers” gala held on August 19, 2017 and received the award for Individual
Philanthropist of the Year (Special Needs), at the 2017 edition of the Philanthropy Forum.
