Miss Ghana Foundation donates to FOCOS
A delegation from the Miss Ghana Foundation led by Inna Patty visited the FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital on Thursday February 2, 2018, to redeem an earlier pledge they made to sponsor the surgery of Gifty Amuzu, a 13 year old girl diagnosed with Scoliosis (curvature of the spine).
The team comprised: Miss Ghana at 60 winner Miss Margaret Mwintuur Derry, the first runner up Priscilla Nana Akua Gameli, the second runner up Marigold Frimpong, the events coordinator Alhassan Kassim as well as the Projects & Business Development Manager Agyemang Oppong Peprah.
Mrs Vivian Quarshie-Kumasa, Administrative Manager at the hospital welcomed the team from the Miss Ghana Foundation and expressed her appreciation for their initiative to sponsor young Gifty. Also present at the meeting were, Ms Jemima Owusu the Director of Nursing, Ms Rebecca Essilfie the Nursing Manager, Nana Kwame Osei Fordjour the Development Manager, Claudia Wireko-Brobbey, Emelda Baffour and Joshua Laari all Nursing Supervisors.
The Chairperson of the Miss Ghana Foundation Inna Patty in a brief speech explained the purpose of their visit. “We got wind of the fact that there are indeed young patients precisely young children who suffer from scoliosis and we felt that as a Christmas gift initially, we would do our best effort to ensure we raise some funds to be able to cover the surgery for a particular patient that was Gifty Amuzu”
Receiving the cash donation on behalf of the hospital was Director for Medical Services at the hospital, Dr Gerhard Ofori-Amankwah, and Ms. Jemima Owusu the Director of Nursing at FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital. In addition, the Miss Ghana Foundation donated assorted items which included: mattresses, boxes of Yummy noodles and McVities digestive biscuit.
Inna patty also promised that the foundation will pay the balance in a later date this month to ensure young Gifty’s surgery is done soon to avoid any further complications. The team from the Miss Ghana Foundation were finally taken on a facility tour which gave them the opportunity to interact with some of the young patients.
