Former Scoliosis Patient announces book
Helena Owiredu a former scoliosis patient who currently works with the FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital announced her maiden book titled, “How Scoliosis Changed My Life”. The book was announced at the second annual FOCOS fundraising dinner, held on Saturday, 19th May, 2018 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
In a brief speech at the event, she thanked FOCOS and acknowledged the enormous contribution Prof. Boachie-Adjei, the Founder and CEO of FOCOS made in her recovery process. She also emphasized on the need to empathize with people who live with such conditions.
“I must point out that, aside from my determination, all this could not have been possible without the support of Prof Boachie-Adjei, who has become like a father to me over the years” She said.
The book, which contains 7 chapters talks about Helena’s ordeal as a scoliosis patient and her delightful moments after her surgery. She hopes that the publication of her book will create awareness about scoliosis and to let the world know it is curable. Copies of the book can be obtained at the OPD division of the hospital.
